Apple is reportedly preparing iOS 27 to be more than just a Siri-focused upgrade. According to a new report from Bloomberg, iOS 27 could introduce a suite of AI-powered writing tools, custom wallpaper generation and deeper automation capabilities via an upgraded Shortcuts app.
iOS 27 Could Turn Apple Intelligence into a Daily Productive Tool
As per the latest report, Apple is internally testing a more advanced AI writing assistant capable of helping users rewrite, summarise and improve text across apps. The Cupertino giant is also said to be developing grammar correction tools and contextual writing suggestions that could work system-wide.
Additionally, Apple is said to be testing out a deeper Siri integration, bringing a "Help Me Write" option at the top of the native keyboard. Users can also make use of a "Write with Siri" toggle directly from the keyboard. These additions make a whole lot of sense since Apple is already working on a Gemini-powered Siri app.

Another major upgrade reportedly coming with iOS 27 is AI-generated wallpapers. Apple is said to be exploring ways for users to create custom wallpapers using text prompts, similar to image-generation systems already seen on rival platforms. If implemented, the feature could allow users to generate personalised backgrounds directly on their iPhones without relying on third-party apps.
The report also claims Apple is revamping the Shortcuts app with AI integration. The upgraded experience may allow users to create more advanced automations using natural-language commands instead of manually building complex workflows. This could significantly lower the barrier for casual users who have traditionally found the Shortcuts app difficult to navigate.
These rumoured additions appear to align with Apple's broader AI strategy, which has been gradually taking shape over the past year. Recently, reports also revealed four other Apple Intelligence features on iOS 27, including smarter battery management, live translation improvements and enhanced contextual awareness.
Most importantly, the latest report also strengthens speculations that Apple could open up iOS 27 to multiple AI models beyond Siri. Reports suggest that the tech giant may allow third-party AI systems to integrate more deeply into core iPhone experiences, giving users more flexibility.
While Apple is yet to confirm any of these features, the upcoming WWDC 2026 event should paint a clearer picture soon. With rivals like Google, Microsoft and Samsung rapidly embedding AI across their ecosystems, iOS 27 could become Apple's biggest AI push yet.
