Apple working on the iPhone 17 Air is no mystery at this point. However, a fresh new leak of the device's dummy unit has now given us a clearer look at what is touted to be Apple's thinnest and lightest iPhone to date.
Leaker Majin Bu took to X to post a new hands-on photo of an ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air dummy unit. This dummy unit is seen to flaunt a sleek matte black finish, which previous leaks have suggested will be roughly 5.5 to 5.65mm thin. This makes it far slimmer than the iPhone 17 Pro dummy unit that recently surfaced online, reportedly sporting an 8.75mm thick body.

The rear design of the device is also unique, with a single rear lens sitting on a full-width camera bar at the top. This is different from what we have seen on phones like the iPhone 16e which doesn't get a dedicated camera island for its single lens. Leaks and reports suggest that this could be a 48 MP shooter.
While the build quality can't exactly be commented on from the dummy unit reveal, leaks and reports hint at a titanium-aluminium frame. The device is also expected to be super lightweight at just around 145 grams. We also get a look at the display of the upcoming device. Now, while Majin Bu has not commented on any of that, thanks to previous leaks, we not only know of the iPhone 17 Air's expected display size, but a few other specifications too. Here's a quick rundown:
- 6.6-inch 120 Hz OLED display
- Apple A19
- 48 MP primary rear camera
- 24 MP selfie shooter
- 2,800mAh battery
- Expected to be priced at around $899 (roughly Rs 77,000)
With the Apple iPhone 17 Air likely launching on mid-September, these leaks offer an early glimpse at what the device could bring to the table. And, if the dummy unit leaks are accurate, the iPhone 17 Air could end up bring the thinnest mainstream iPhone out there. However, only time will tell if this comes at the cost of durability and battery-life tradeoffs.
