Apple is gearing up to enter the foldable smartphone space with the iPhone Fold launch later this year, alongside the iPhone 18 series. While an official reveal may happen soon, new leaks point toward a new hardware feature that would make it different from the existing foldable smartphones.
iPhone Fold durability could be off-the-charts
According to a new leak from the user LanzK on Naver, a South Korean blog, Apple will use a liquid metal hinge on its iPhone Fold.
We recently learned that the Cupertino giant has been testing the material in collaboration with some of its leading partners, Foxconn and Amphenol. The latter could be responsible for the rumoured iPhone Fold crease-free display, which was flaunted by the Galaxy Z TriFold recently.
Additionally, the latest leak highlights that the main body of the foldable could be made out of Titanium, specifically an improved version of the previously used Titanium alloys. Additionally, the phone will reportedly be stronger and lighter as well.
While not much is known about the iPhone Fold specifications, previous rumours have pointed toward it featuring Apple's A20 Pro chipset. The A20 Pro price could be higher as well, as it's tipped to use TSMC's 2nm process, offering significant gains in efficiency and performance.

Besides, recent iPhone Fold renders revealed the phone could boast a unique wide form factor with a pill-shaped camera plateau and a crease-free display. The screen size will reportedly be 7.8 inches, while the cover screen will measure 5.5 inches.
Despite the premium materials, the phone is rumoured to stick with a dual rear camera setup rather than a triple-lens array. Powering the smartphone could be a 5,400mAh battery arranged in a dual-cell setup, and it could be the first iPhone to boast high-density Silicon-Carbon batteries.
So far, 2026 is turning out to be an interesting year for foldable smartphones, especially with a wide Samsung foldable in the making. Besides, the Oppo Find N6 is also expected to arrive soon, while the OnePlus Open 2 is cancelled yet again. Stay tuned as we will report more about any information that pops up about these foldable smartphones.
