Apple has been developing the next version of its Vision Pro headset for some time now and with its launch expected around the end of 2025, we're starting to piece information on them one bit at a time. A new report now suggests that the upcoming Vision Pro headset could feature an upgraded chip.
The folks over at MacRumors accidentally came across a code which indicates that Apple is planning to add the M5 chip to the next generation Vision Pro headset. It's in line with previous leaks about an upgraded chip on the headset, but confusion has prevailed over which chip the company would rely on for the next visionOS device.

While Bloomberg's Mark Gurman had earlier suggested that the Vision Pro 2 could come with the Apple M4 chip from the current generation MacBooks and iPads, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo instead indicated that the headset could feature the not-yet-announced M5 processor. There's not much known about the M5 chip itself, other than the fact that it'll be built on TSMC’s 3nm node.
Besides the Vision Pro, the leaked information from Apple also reveals the internals of some of its other upcoming devices. The next generation iPad Mini is expected to get the upcoming Apple A19 Pro chip, while this year's Apple TV is tipped to get the A17 Pro chip from the iPhone 15 Pro lineup.
Apple's 2025 line of smartwatches, namely the Watch Series 11, Watch Ultra 3 and Watch SE (3rd generation) are expected to get the new S11 chip. This system in package (SiP) is likely based on the same architecture as the S10 and S9 chips, but the newer SiP will be thinner than its predecessors.
Apple is reportedly set to host a September 9, 2025 event to launch the iPhone 17 series alongside the new Apple Watches and AirPods Pro 3. It's unlikely that we'd see any developments about the upcoming Vision Pro headset during this event other than the stable release of visionOS 26, but we'll keep an eye out just in case.
