Apple's next rugged flagship Watch Ultra 3 could feature a subtle display upgrade. Clues spotted in the latest iOS 26 beta suggests so.
According to findings shared by MacRumours, the beta includes an image asset that points to a new Apple Watch resolution of 422 x 514 pixels. Now, this does not match any existing model's resolution, hinting at it possibly being the Apple Watch Ultra 3. This is a slight bump from the 410 x 502 resolution on the current Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Interestingly, the change might not come from a larger case. Instead, the 49mm titanium frame may stay the same and Apple might shrink the bezels to make more room for the expanded screen instead.
Depending on how Apple handles it, we could be looking at either a higher pixel density or a modestly larger display of up to around 1.98 inches, up from Ultra 2's 1.92-inch screen. That's roughly a 3% increase in the display size.
While it may not seem like much on paper, when it comes to the smaller screen, it's a generous upgrade. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to debut alongside the Apple Watch Series 11 and iPhone 17 lineup launch in September. Other rumoured upgrades to the Watch Ultra 3 include satellite messaging, 5G connectivity, a brighter and smoother display, as well as a next-gen chipset.
