With every major flagship launch out of the way, all eyes are now on Samsung as it prepares to launch the Galaxy S26 series. However, the brand is now facing complications due to the ongoing memory chip crisis. So, to address that, the South Korean smartphone maker is seeking a meeting with Micron at CES 2026.
Samsung seeks Crucial's help for Galaxy S26 series
South Korean media DealSite has reported that DX Division head of Samsung, TM Roh and Crucial CEO, Sanjay Mehrotra, are set to have a meeting at CES 2026 regarding the supply of memory chips for the Galaxy S26 series.
For context, Crucial's Micron arm was the largest DRAM vendor for the Galaxy S25 lineup. It is also supposed to be the leading LPDDR5X RAM supplier for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Hence, to ensure that the current memory chip crisis doesn't affect the set supply arrangements, it's important for the meeting to happen.

The publication has reported that with memory prices surging exponentially, the pre-existing negotiations between Samsung and Micron now hang in the balance. With the mass production deadline fast approaching, a major snag in the supply chain at this stage will cause major delays for the Galaxy S26 series, even potentially halting production altogether.
Also, recently Micron announced Crucial's exit from the consumer memory market. It has halted the production of new chips altogether. So, this has also caused Samsung to seek an urgent meeting to ensure that the existing stock is sufficient for the Galaxy S26 lineup.

As a result, Samsung and Crucial are set to strike a new deal to ensure that a significant volume of chips is reserved for the upcoming smartphones. This will allow Samsung to launch the Galaxy S26 series on time and also ensure that Micron maintains its current prominent vendor position in the Galaxy DRAM supply chain.
That said, it is unclear at the time of writing how fruitful the meeting will be. Samsung has already confirmed a First Look event for CES 2026 on January 4, 2026. It is expected to tease the Galaxy S26 series at the event.
