The Android Show I/O Edition 2026 saw the reveal of Gemini Intelligence on Android. Alongside multi-step automation, auto form-filling, AI widget creation, and more, Google has given its default keyboard, Gboard, a dose of Gemini Intelligence, too. Gboard has supported advanced voice typing for a long time, but it is getting upgraded with a new Rambler feature.
Gemini Intelligence Adds 'Rambler' Voice Typing Feature to Gboard
With Rambler, Gemini Intelligence is bringing an even more advanced, AI-backed voice typing feature to Gboard. And Google wants you to do exactly as the name suggests: press a button on the keyboard and ramble.
Sometimes, while talking or texting, our train of thought changes. So, we have to stop, hold backspace, delete the unwanted text, and get back to saying out the new thing. It can be tedious, at times.
Gboard's Rambler feature, introduced as part of Gemini Intelligence, wants to help you avoid this hassle.
It wants you to talk naturally and leave the worry of drafting the final text to the AI. Rambler, as Google's blog post notes, "will take the important parts, then fit them all together into a concise message." Check out the sample ramble below:

Google is using Gemini's advanced multi-lingual model to power this feature. Thanks to this, Rambler can switch between multiple languages in a single message. You could be describing the directions in English, adding landmark names in Hindi while also saying Hinglish words, and the Rambler feature is going to understand it all.
"Rambler understands the context and the nuance, ensuring your message sounds exactly like you — only more polished," says the blog post in regards to speaking in multiple languages to Gboard.
This feature is one that I'm most interested in testing when Gemini Intelligence rolls around. There are times when I'm just in the creative space and too tired to type and save my thoughts. Rambler could be the perfect companion for times like these. It's perfect for me to save my ramblings and revisit them the next day.
To squash any privacy concerns, Google has also assured that your audio (voice input) is only used to transcribe text in real-time. Your ramblings are not stored, and Gboard will include a clear indicator for when the 'Rambler' feature is enabled. This should give you some peace of mind to AI adopters who are also privacy enthusiasts.
When can you use this feature? Google has confirmed that Gemini Intelligence will be released to Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones this summer. It will be a phased rollout, with the Rambler feature reaching other devices later this year.
