Last week, the One UI 9 Beta 7 update for the Galaxy S26 series rolled out with a bunch of new features. Now, it looks like the latest One UI build has also hinted at an upcoming feature coming to next year's Galaxy S27 lineup.
The folks over at Android Authority managed to find a hidden codebase inside the One UI 9 Beta 7 update, hinting at Google's Scam Detection feature support for the upcoming Galaxy 27 series. The build mentions the following SKUs:
- SM-S952: likely the standard Galaxy S27 model
- SM-S956: likely the Galaxy S27+
- SM-S957: likely the Galaxy S27 Pro
- SM-S958: likely the Galaxy S27 Ultra
Moreover, the teardown also revealed several other older Galaxy phone models, including the following:
- Galaxy S25 (SM-S931)
- Galaxy S25 Plus (SM-S936)
- Galaxy S25 Edge (SM-S937)
- Galaxy S25 Ultra (SM-S938)
- Galaxy Z Fold 7 (SM-F966)
- Galaxy Z Flip 7 (SM-F766)
- Galaxy Z TriFold (SM-F968)
As for the Galaxy S26 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip 8, they all support Google's Scam Detection feature.
Hence, this proves that Google is planning to not only expand Scam Detection to the upcoming Galaxy S27 series but also to older Galaxy phones, specifically those launched in 2025.
One UI 9 Beta 7 Also Suggests Dual-Chip Strategy for Galaxy S27 Series
Aside from hinting at Scam Detection support for the upcoming Galaxy flagship phones, the codebase also reveals details about their chipset. The publication claims that One UI 9 Beta 7 references the "s5e9975" SKU, which is designated for the upcoming Samsung Exynos 2700 processor.
There is also a generic mention of "qcom", hinting at the use of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme chipset for Galaxy. This suggests Samsung intends to stick with its dual-chipset strategy for its 2027 flagship phones. There is no clear indication of which of the four phones will use which SoC.
That said, the Galaxy S27 series launch is still several months away, most likely arriving around February 2027. Samsung is also expected to debut One UI 9.5 alongside the Galaxy S27 linuep. We will know more details once the launch timeline is near. So, stay tuned.
