Summary

  • Google is rolling out a new Scroll and Translate feature in Circle to Search.
  • Once enabled, it lets users translate the content as they scroll, eliminating the need to continuously prompt the feature.
  • The feature is currently rolling out to select Samsung phones first, followed by other Android phones before the end of next week.

Circle to Search is one of the more useful features on Android, and Google is upgrading it by adding a new feature. It's called Scroll and Translate, and it does exactly what its name suggests.

Google announced on its blog that it's rolling out a "Scroll and Translate" feature, which will let users translate the content as they scroll. This means no more restarting the translation process as they scroll to the next part of the page, making the process more effortless and seamless.

Activating the feature requires users to tap on the translate button in the Circle to Search UI, and then tap on Scroll and translate. Circle to Search's translation feature will then be prominently active until you turn it off manually.

Google says that the feature will continue to work even when users switch apps, until they tap the "x" icon, which will stop the feature.  It is reportedly rolling out to Samsung devices first, but we've also seen reports of Pixel users receiving it. Google says it will roll out to more devices by the end of next week.

The Scroll and Translate feature will be appreciated by many. It makes up for a great use case, especially for those who want to use foreign apps but have held themselves back due to language barriers. It should be interesting to see how snappy the translation will be.

Google recently rolled out the September Pixel Drop with Material 3 Expressive to its older Pixels, and it completely revamps the user interface. Besides, Google also recently launched the Pixel 10 lineup last week, with improvements all around.
