Summary

  • The Google Pixel Buds 2a will feature wingtips similar to Pixel Buds Pro 2 for a better fit.
  • Google's "G" logo could be printed on the plastic casing of the Buds 2a instead of being embossed like the Buds Pro 2.
  • The Pixel Buds 2a are expected to feature Spatial audio and Active noise cancellation.

We're just over a week away from Google's big Pixel launch event, but leaks continue to spill more details. After last week's leaks that revealed the Pixel Buds 2a, we now have a clearer picture of the fit of the buds and how they compare to the Buds Pro 2.

The latest images arrive courtesy of Winfuture and suggest the Pixel Buds 2a will adopt a similar wingtip design compared to the flagship Buds Pro 2 for a snug fit. The new tips are much smaller than the original Pixel Buds A.

The case looks very similar to the original Pixel Buds Pro and the current Pixel Buds Pro 2. One of the other design elements is that, unlike the Pixel Buds Pro 2, where the "G" logo is embossed on the flat side of the earbud, the logo appears to be printed on the Pixel Buds 2a.

The images reveal the Buds 2a in two colours – Iris and Grey, but they could arrive in two more colours, Fog light and Hazel. All colourways are expected to arrive in the same White case, just like the Buds Pro 2. There's a white LED indicator at the front to indicate charging and pairing.

As for the other specifications of the Buds 2a, Evan Blass leaked a few promo materials confirming the key differences between the Buds Pro 2 and Buds 2a. The main differences seem to be the lack of Conversation Detection, head tracking and Wireless charging on the Buds 2a.

The battery on the Buds 2a could be rated for 7 hours (vs 8 on the Buds 2 Pro) with 20 hours of total playback time (vs 30 hours on the Buds 2 Pro). That said, the Pixel Buds 2a feature ANC and Spatial Audio, which the original Pixel Buds A lacked. However, don't expect them to perform on par with the Pixel Buds 2 Pro.

The Pixel Bids 2a were originally rumoured to go on sale from August 28, 2025, but they've reportedly been delayed to October 9, 2025, alongside the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch 4 due to supply chain issues.

Google is yet to confirm the delay, so take the news with a grain of salt. That said, stay tuned as we'll cover the Made by Google event scheduled for August 20, 2025, extensively.
