The Honor Robot Phone China launch event yesterday saw the unveiling of the world's first 4DoF motorised gimbal camera phone, developed in partnership with German imaging company ARRI. Now, Honor is extending this collaboration further with the upcoming Honor Magic 9 series, which is now confirmed to launch next month.
Honor Magic 9 Series China Launch Set for September 28
The official Honor Weibo account has confirmed that the Honor Magic 9 series will launch in China on September 28, 2026. The upcoming lineup is expected to bring the standard Honor Magic 9 and the Honor Magic 9 Pro.
Honor CEO Li Jian, in an official press meet, has confirmed that the Honor Magic 9 series will be unveiled at an in-person event in Beijing, China. Moreover, the Magic 9 lineup will see Honor extending its partnership with ARRI beyond the Honor Robot Phone.

Honor and ARRI have entered into a long-term imaging collaboration. Harald Brendel, Director of Imaging Science at ARRI, has confirmed that the Magic 9 lineup will bring three key ARRI technologies: ARRI LogC3, ARRI Look and ARRI Movie Mode.
Both brands also jointly gave us a glimpse of what the Honor Magic 9 series phones will look like. From the image below, we can see the ARRI logo on what appears to be a circular camera deco with ribbed edges.

The smartphone appears to feature a metal unibody design with a portion of the back panel made out of glass. It is unclear at the moment whether the above image is of the Honor Magic 9 or the Magic 9 Pro.

Honor Magic 9 Series Specifications (Leaked)
While Honor has revealed the launch date and ARRI collab for the Magic 9 series, the brand has refrained from sharing any more details. However, prolific tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has outed some of the lineup's key specifications.
For starters, the Magic 9 series is expected to feature a 200 MP main camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, an f/1.57 aperture and 3-degree optical image stabilisation (OIS). The primary sensor is said to be paired with a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera, with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and f/2.6 aperture.

The leaker also claims that the Magic 9 series could become one of the first Android flagship phones to run on Qualcomm's next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processors. This makes sense since the Snapdragon Summit 2026 event is set for September 22–24, 2026.
Since the Magic 9 series is launching on September 28, the lineup could very well become the first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6-powered phones in the world. DCS says the phones will feature a "2nm flagship chip". It is unclear if the leaker is referring to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.

Aside from that, earlier leaks have hinted at a 6.8-inch 1.5K LTPO 2.5D flat display for the Magic 9 lineup. Reports also point to an 8,000mAh battery capacity for the Magic 9 series. Both phones could also gain 3D facial recognition and ultrasonic fingerprint scanners.
That said, none of the specs have been officially confirmed. So, take them with a pinch of salt. Besides the Magic 9 and Magic 9 Pro, leaks also claim a new Honor Magic 9 Pro Max might also debut in 2026. However, we will know for sure as more official details emerge. So, stay tuned.
