Honor has quietly launched a new budget Honor Play 80 Plus in China. The new phone sits as a middle ground between the Honor Play 80 and Play 80 Pro, which launched in China earlier this month. It features a big battery, reliable everyday performance and on paper, appears to be a practical option in the segment.
Honor Play 80 Plus Specifications and Features
The Honor Play 80 Plus sports a 6.61-inch HD+ (1604 x 720 pixels) TFT LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. This panel is encased in an 8.29mm thick body that weighs about 205 grams.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. On the software front, it runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16, bringing the latest iteration of Honor's custom UI with system optimisations and AI-backed features.

One of the biggest highlights of the Honor Play 80 Plus is its massive 7,500mAh battery, which is bigger than the 5,300mAh and 7,000mAh batteries of the Honor Play 80 and Play 80 Pro, respectively. This justifies the "Plus" in the moniker. Additionally, the phone supports 45W wired fast charging and also offers reverse wired charging, allowing it to double down as a power bank for other phones.
In terms of optics, the Honor Play 80 Plus features a 13 MP rear camera for basic photography needs, along with a 5 MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security and standard connectivity options, including 5G support. The phone is offered in multiple colour options, including Black, Gold and Aquamarine.
Honor Play 80 Plus Price and Availability
The Honor Play 80 Plus starts at 1,699 Chinese Yuan (approximately Rs 24,000) for the base 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. The smartphone is currently available for pre-order in China, though Honor has not yet announced any plans for a global or India launch.
With its standout battery endurance and balanced entry-level hardware, the Honor Play 80 Plus appears to be meant for users who value longevity and reliability. In a crowded budget market, its sheer battery size could give it an edge among users tired of frequent charging cycles.
