We know that Samsung and Apple are both hard at work, developing their very first wide foldables. However, talks of Huawei beating them to the race with a wide foldable of their own started making rounds of the internet. Well, it's official as the brand has finally confirmed the Huawei Pura X Max launch date and showcased its design, giving us a good first look at the wide foldable in bold colours.
Huawei Pura X Max Launch Date Confirmed
The official Huawei Weibo account has announced that the Pura X Max will launch in China on April 20, 2026. From the looks of it, there will be a dedicated launch event for the wide foldable, which interested users can livestream via the brand's Weibo handle and official China website.
Do note that the Huawei Pura 90 Pro launch date is scheduled for the same day as well, confirming they will all go official at the same event.
Huawei Pura X Max Design Revealed
Apart from that, Huawei has also showcased the Pura X Max design in all its glory. We see the upcoming wide foldable in purple, orange, gold, black and white colourways. It falls in line with the recent Huawei Pura X Max design renders that leaked an outline of the foldable.

However, with the official images out, we see that the back panel of the foldable will have a horizontal and vertical line running across, dividing the back panel into three sections. The leftmost section also features vertical textures, adding more personality to the phone.

As already seen in the design renders, there's a horizontal camera module housing three cameras and two LED flashes. This camera island also features the XMAGE branding. For those unaware, XMAGE is an imaging brand of Huawei itself that focuses on optical system, imaging technology, image processing and mechanical structure to offer a good mobile photography experience.

Moving on, at the front of the Huawei Pura X Max, we see a punch hole display with narrow, uniform bezels surrounding it. And as the renders previously suggested, the wide foldable will arrive with the Huawei branding at the hinge and back panel.
Huawei Pura X Max Specifications (Expected)
While the brand doesn't confirm any of the Huawei Pura X Max specs, leaks and reports suggest it will arrive with a 7.6-inch inner display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Meanwhile, the cover screen is expected to be that of a modest 5.5 inches, letting users handle most of their daily tasks efficiently.
Under the hood, the wide foldable could be powered by the brand's proprietary Kirin 9030 chipset. Now, since the Huawei Pura X Max is now up for pre-orders in China, we know that it will come in 12 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 512 GB, 16 GB + 512 GB and 16 GB + 1 TB variants.
With the launch being a little over a week away, expect the brand to gradually confirm more details in the coming days, so stay tuned.
However, Huawei will certainly be butting heads with Samsung's rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and Apple's iPhone Ultra Fold. Moreover, with the kind of leverage it is getting by launching early, it will be quite a tough competitor to beat in the region.
