Instagram has quietly launched a new app called 'Instants'. It is an extension of the "Shots" feature that was previously baked into the Instagram app. However, with Instagram Instants, Shots is a standalone app that lets users share disappearing photos and messages, similar to Snapchat and BeReal.
Instagram 'Instants' Launched in Spain and Italy
'Instants' is designed to let users share their "Real life, real quick." It is similar in concept to Snapchat and BeReal, where users can click disappearing images and videos and share them instantly with friends and family.

The aim is to help users filter out the complexities of the core messaging app and only focus on sharing memories with friends and family in the moment. This is achieved by making every single photo and video on Instagram Instants disappear after 24 hours.
Users can also enable cross-platform sync, meaning that any new image or video shared on the Instants app will also be visible on the Instagram app. Aside from that, Instants will also support photo and video reactions, a dedicated Memories tab to track all the media shared and can be logged in via a user's existing Instagram account.
At the time of writing, while Instagram Instants is available for Android and iOS, the rollout is limited to only Spain and Italy. It appears Instagram is testing out the app with a limited audience before rolling out globally. Hence, if you are in any of those regions, download the Instants app from the Play Store or the App Store. For those in India and other regions, here's hoping that the app has a successful testing phase and rolls out gradually.
