Joining a Google Meet call on an iPhone hasn't always been the smoothest experience. If you didn't have the app installed or weren't signed in with a Google Account, getting into a meeting often meant jumping through a few extra hoops. Thankfully, Google is changing that by letting iPhone users join Google Meet calls through Safari.
iPhone Users Can Now Instantly Join Google Meet Calls via Safari
The latest change comes as part of a new Google Workspace update, which lets iOS users join Google Meet calls directly through the Safari web browser on their iPhones. This will allow users to request a shareable joining link which when clicked, will redirect the iOS user to the Safari browser. He/ She can then simply add their name and click on the "Ask to join" button to request access to the meeting.

This also eliminates the need to sign-in or create a Google Account just to join a meeting, making the entire process seamless and friction-free. It also makes Google Meet join the likes of Zoom and Cisco WebX as they have been offering the ability to join calls via links for ages.
The ability to join Google Meet via Safari is gradually rolling out to Google Workspace globally and could take some time for every iPhone user to get it. However, do note that in case you have the app installed, the link will still prompt you to join via that instead of the Safari browser.
