The iQOO 16 China launch date is confirmed for September 29, 2026, and ahead of it, the brand has revealed its camera setup and it looks promising.
The official iQOO Weibo account has confirmed that iQOO 16 will feature a 50 MP OmniVision OV50Q main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size, OIS and a CIPA 5.5 stability rating. It will be paired with a 50 MP ultra-wide lens and a 50 MP Sony IMX-882 3x "W-shaped" periscope telephoto camera.
Compared to the iQOO 15, the iQOO 16's main camera brings a noticeable upgrade. The OV50Q is a large 1/1.3-inch sensor, meaning it can capture more light. This usually comes in handy during low-light photography and enables more natural blur.
Aside from the hardware, iQOO 16 is also confirmed to borrow some camera software from its parent brand, Vivo. This includes Vivo's Ultra Light and Shadow HDR technology, which should help balance bright and dark areas in a shot.
The phone will also bring the NICE 3.0 optical reconstruction engine for image processing and 4K Ultra HD Live support for 4K Live Photos. These are features that the more premium Vivo X500 series offers.
Aside from the camera details, we also know that the iQOO 16 will be powered by the newly launched 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. The processor will be supported by iQOO's in-house Q4 chipset, with a tri-core architecture and the proprietary QNSS super rendering engine.
Based on previously revealed iQOO 16 display details, we know that the phone will become the first to use Samsung's M16 OLED panel and feature Samsung's new 2K LEAD 2.0 technology for a 2K 165 Hz display.
Recently, the OnePlus 16 camera specs were also officially revealed and while the iQOO 16 doesn't get a 200 MP lens, it will certainly be interesting to see how the two flagships fare against each other in terms of sheer optical optimisation.
iQOO 16 will be offered in Chasing Light, Legend and Racing Track colour options and will bring a futuristic look to the triple camera setup. We will know more once the phone officially launches next week. So, stay tuned.
