Counterfeit products are a major issue in India and bad actors are quite selective when it comes to cloning smartphones. Considering Samsung's popularity, it has always been the top choice for these markets, but law enforcement has finally busted an illegal manufacturing unit producing a hefty amount of fake Samsung phones.
Over 500 Fake Samsung Phones have been seized
According to The Indian Express, acting on a specific tip-off, Delhi's law enforcement raided a shop in the city on December 13 and 14, 2025, and arrested four individuals assembling these fake Samsung smartphones. The operation revealed a complex racket where the bad actors were caught using fake used components from China to build knockoffs.

During the raid, police seized 512 counterfeit phones, primarily high-end model lookalikes like the Galaxy S series, Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. The report suggests the actors intended to sell these smartphones for between Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000 each.
Keeping the price high enough to increase the "legitimacy" of these smartphones, unsuspected buyers would view it as a tempting deal and get scammed. Besides, the police also recovered 124 motherboards, 138 batteries and specialised tools for assembly.
However, what makes it a huge bust is the fake 459 IMEI stickers that were also recovered, which had "Made in Vietnam" text, to trick customers into believing the smartphones were authentic international SKUs.
Officials are now working to trace the supply chain and identify the buyers linked to this network. All in all, this bust should help curb the flow of counterfeit Galaxy phones in the market, preventing customers from getting scammed.
The counterfeit market in India knows no bounds and has grown immensely over the past few years. Therefore, this bust marks a crucial step in course correction and a warning from the authorities that there will be a massive pushback and any efforts could be thwarted.
