London-based tech brand Nothing has made a name for itself in the smartphone industry. With its iconic design language and product principle, the brand has released some popular smartphones as well as smart products like earbuds and headphones. Now, the brand is looking to venture further and tap into the up and coming smart glasses territory.
Nothing AI Smart Glasses In Development for Next Year
In his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman has revealed that behind closed doors, Nothing is actively working on its first-ever AI smart glass. The company is reportedly taking cues from Meta, Google and Samsung, and could launch it as early as 2027.

As per undisclosed sources to Bloomberg, Nothing plans to release its AI smart glass in the first half of 2027, to understand consumer reactions and decide whether the brand wants to pivot in this direction or not. However, this new product category will not affect the regular flow of Nothing phones and earbuds.
Before venturing into AI smart glasses in 2027, Gurman states that the first trace of AI-backed hardware will arrive in the form of AI Nothing earbuds by end of 2026. Although he has not explicitly stated which earbud, we expect it to be the Nothing Ear (4).

As for what the smart glass will offer, Gurman expects it to resemble the first-gen RayBan Meta smart glass. The report states that Nothing’s AI glasses would house a microphone, speakers and cameras. It will rely on cloud computing and smartphone-based operations to handle AI processing.
This could mean that Nothing will position its smart glass as a companion device rather than a standalone product, at least in the first iteration. Moreover, Gurman states that Nothing will also bring its transparent and unique design to its smart glass, making it instantly recognisable as a Nothing product.
That said, very little is known about Nothing's new product at the moment. The report mentions that, in the initial stages, Carl Pei, the founder and CEO of Nothing, was against the smart glass idea. However, he later on decided to proceed with it as products under the Android XR umbrella started emerging, making it a ripe moment for Nothing to jump in as one of the early adopters.
