Qualcomm has announced the X105 5G Modem-RF that officially starts laying the groundwork for 6G technology. The modem is geared towards use across phones, PCs, VR, Cars ad industrial robots and is the market's first modem ready for Release 19 standards.
Qualcomm X105 5G Modem-RF features next-Gen AI chip
The biggest update here is the brainpower, as Qualcomm has packed this modem with a dedicated 5th-generation AI chip with an agentic AI. This could help actively monitor and manage data traffic on the fly, making sure data-heavy tasks are prioritised first and things like gaming and streaming don't stutter.

Qualcomm claims that the X105 is smaller both physically and internally, as the brand has moved to a 6 nm manufacturing process for the RF transceiver. The physical footprint has been reduced by 15% while the switch to a more efficient process will result in up to 30% reduction in battery drain.
When it comes to raw specs, the X105 maxes out at a staggering 14.8 Gbps for downloads and 4.2 Gbps for uploads. Besides, the model is Satellite-ready, meaning it will support the Satellite Connectivity implementations on both Android and iPhones, including support for texts, calls and video streaming.
Besides the cellular and satellite perks, the modem also features a new quad-band GNSS system for pinpoint accuracy. There's also a dual-SIM boost feature called Turbo DSDA, which aids in running multiple SIM cards up to 60% faster.
As for the launch date, Qualcomm says that hardware makers are currently testing the X105. The modem is expected to arrive in the second half of 2026, and chances are, we could potentially see it power the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and Gen 6 processors launching later in 2026.
