Only yesterday, Realme teased that it is partnering with a world-renowned camera brand for its next flagship phones. Now, the Chinese smartphone brand has officially confirmed the name and it is one worth keeping an eye out for.
The Realme Global handle on X announced that it is borrowing the imaging prowess of the legendary Japanese camera brand Ricoh. The upcoming Realme GT 8 Pro will become the first smartphone to be born out of this partnership. Realme will host a dedicated Image Strategic Cooperation launch event on October 14, 2025, to reveal the extent of this imaging collaboration.

However, even before that, we can draw some expectations from this partnership based on what Realme has already shared. First and foremost, the inspiration for this collaboration is clearly the iconic Ricoh GR series point-and-shoot cameras.
From the Ricoh GR I to the Ricoh GR IV, these Japanese fixed-lens cameras are known for their street photography capabilities. They use a somewhat 28mm APS-C sensor with a fixed wide-angle lens for detailed and crisp stills and portraits.

Apart from top-of-the-line hardware, the Ricoh GR lineup is known for its signature colour science with true-to-life footage reproduction, bokeh shots and monochrome footages. So, it is clear that the choice of Ricoh for the GT 8 Pro is not a disappointing one.
This new partnership could span for the next 4 years, as the post reveals, "4 Years in One Snap". Or it could simply mean that the announcement was four years in the making. Either way, we will know for sure in two weeks when more details will be shared officially.

Realme GT 8 Pro could flaunt a 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HP5 main sensor
While we are yet to see how capable the GT 8 Pro's cameras will become thanks to Ricoh, we do know that it won't compromise on the core optics hardware. The smartphone is expected to flaunt the newly-launched 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor, working in tandem with a 3x periscope lens. It could get paired with s 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide angle unit.

The smartphone has already been confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, so there is no surprise there. However, it could get complemented with a 7,300mAh battery and a 6.8-inch 2K 144Hz LTPO OLED display, which remain unconfirmed at the time of writing.
That said, with Ricoh onboard, Realme has joined the ranks of Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi who have been flaunting big imaging muscles with their phones for so long now. We are excited to see what the Relame GT 8 Pro has in store for us.
