Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the successor to the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, in 2026. The smartwatch will be the third installation since the brand's getting into the rugged smartwatch game, and could be a true successor to the last smartwatch that was more of a slight upgrade on paper.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could be a true successor to the original Ultra
While Samsung released a Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 earlier this year, it merely brought a new colourway of the original 2024 model. According to a new report from Galaxy Club, the second generation of Ultra is expected to feature many improvements and could launch with the Galaxy Watch 9 series.

The smartwatches are likely to debut in July 2026, when Samsung usually launches its foldable smartphones. Therefore, it may arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. Interesting details regarding the device's internal nomenclature have also surfaced.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is internally referred to as the Galaxy Watch 9 Ultra. This mirrors the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, which was known internally as the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra, as it launched alongside the Galaxy Watch 7 series.

However, this code is unlikely to reflect the final marketing name. Just as the first model dropped the number to launch simply as the Galaxy Watch Ultra, the successor could be branded as the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Since we did get a Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025, the next offering could also be called the Watch Ultra 2026.
To reiterate, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could launch in July 2026. However, concrete specifications are still scarce. We expect battery life improvements, a better display, an extra rugged design and an improved processor, likely the Exynos W1100. More information should be revealed as we inch closer to launch, so stay tuned.
