After pushing its NxtPaper technology across multiple smartphones and tablets over the years, TCL is now attempting to further refine the concept with a new producitivity-focused tablet. The brand has announced the TCL Note A1 NxtPaper, a tablet that aims to bridge the gap between eye comfort and everyday performance by pairing its paper-like matte display with a high refresh-rate LCD panel.
TCL Note A1 NxtPaper boasts an 11.5-inch NxtPaper Pure display
The Note A1 NxtPaper has been announced on Kickstarter, and it aims to kill off the compromises usually associated with e-ink technology. It features an 11.5-inch 2200 x 1440 pixels LCD panel, which runs at a 120 Hz refresh rate. The display uses TCL's NxtPaper Pure technology to cut blue light and glare, offering a display finish and experience that mimics paper.

All this while the tablet is still capable of playing video, thanks to the 16.7 million colours support. It's positioned as a productivity tool and ships with the T-Pen Pro. The stylus boasts 5 ms latency for natural note-taking. Powering the internals is a MediaTek Helio G100 processor with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB onboard storage.
The processor is responsible for powering the built-in AI features that can transcribe voice notes and beautify handwriting. TCL also markets AI-powered features include AI summarisation, Audio to Text transcription, Real-time translation and more. Besides the large 8,000mAh battery that charges at 33W, the tablet also features an eight microphones array.

The tablet lacks a front camera, but it does come with a 13 MP rear snapper. It weighs just 500 grams and is 5.5 mm slim. Connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.3, a Pogo pin port, a USB Type-C port, and a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the tablet.
The Note A1 NxtPaper will be first available via its official Kickstarter page, and early backers can score it for $419 (approximately Rs 37,500). Full retail launch is expected in February 2026 for $549 (approximately Rs 49,000). The brand is yet to reveal the official date the tablet will be up on Kickstarter.
