Summary

  • Vivo has confirmed via an X post that the Vivo X Fold 5 is coming to India soon.
  • It's expected to arrive alongside Vivo X200 FE, sometime between July 14 and 19.
  • The X Fold 5 packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a 6,000mAh battery inside a 4.3 mm thin form factor.

Vivo recently launched the X Fold 5 in China and has now confirmed that the phone will launch in India soon. This doesn't come as a surprise, considering the phone was spotted on Indian certification websites multiple times.

The official Vivo India X handle posted a video of the X Fold 5, showcasing its main USPs. The caption reads “The real story unfolds soon” alongside the X Fold 5 hashtag, confirming the device's arrival in India. Subsequently, the Vivo India official website has also been updated with a dedicated X Fold 5 page, highlighting the phone's key specifications.

While neither the teaser nor the page reveal the exact launch date, rumours suggest the X Fold 5 could launch alongside Vivo X200 FE, which is expected to launch between July 14 and 19

For the uninitiated, the Vivo X Fold 5 is the firm's slimmest foldable yet, measuring 4.3 mm when unfolded and 9.2 m when folded. It's only second to the Oppo Find N5, which measures 4.21 mm when unfolded.

However, despite only being slightly thicker, the X Fold 5 boasts a 6,000mAh battery, with 80W fast charging and 40W wireless charging. At its core, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor combined with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.

It also gets three 50 MP rear cameras with Zeiss optics, which includes a 50 MP primary IMX921 sensor, 50 MP periscope IMX882 lens, and a 50 MP ultrawide snapper. The cameras on both inner and cover displays are 20 MP units. The inner display is an 8.03-inch AMOLED panel with 120 Hz refresh rate, while the cover display is a 6.53-inch unit.

Indian buyers can expect the device to launch with Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. The X Fold 5's Atomic Workbench feature will lets users run five apps at once, meaning the phone could be a treat to use for multitaskers.

Like the launch date, there's still no word on how much the X Fold 5 could cost in India. The Vivo X Fold 5 launched in China for a starting price of 6,999 Chinese Yen (approximately Rs 84,500). With rumours pointing towards a lower price than the X Fold 3 Pro, we could see Vivo's next foldable coming at a similar price point as its Chinese version.
