Apple is hosting a dedicated launch event this year for premium iPhones and the launch date is finally official. Apple has confirmed a special event on September 9, 2026, where the Pro models will be unveiled along with the long-rumoured foldable iPhone. Since Apple has split the iPhone 18 launch into two cycles, the standard models won't be a part of this keynote. So, if you want to know exactly when the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max go on sale, follow our detailed timeline below.
iPhone 18 Pro Launch Date: The September 2026 Timeline

Apple has officially announced its annual keynote for September 9, 2026 (Wednesday) and it will be held at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple Park, Cupertino. The event starts at 10:00 a.m. PT, which is 10:30 PM IST for those of us tuning in from India. Apple is calling it a "Surprise and shine" event and you can watch the live stream on Apple's website, the Apple TV app and its official YouTube channel.
By the way, it will be the first Apple event led by the new CEO John Ternus, who officially takes over from Tim Cook on September 1, 2026. Apart from that, Apple has not named the iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max in the invite, simply calling it a "special Apple Event."
Here is the confirmed iPhone 18 Pro timeline:
- Keynote (confirmed): September 9, 2026
- Pre-orders begin: September 12, 2026 (expected)
- iOS 27 public rollout: Around September 15, 2026
- iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max sale date: September 18, 2026 (expected)
Note that iOS 27 will arrive on existing iPhones a few days before the new models hit the stores, just like every year. And while Apple has confirmed the keynote date, the pre-order and sale dates are not official yet.
Pre-orders usually begin on Friday after the keynote (September 11 this year), but since it conflicts with the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Apple is expected to push pre-orders to Saturday, which would be September 12.

Will iPhone Fold Launch with the 18 Pro Models?

Now, the foldable iPhone Ultra is widely expected to launch with the Pro models at the September 9 event, though Apple has not officially confirmed it. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the foldable will only be announced on stage, but shipments will be pushed to a later date because of production delays. Some reports even say that the foldable iPhone might become available in December.
If you want a similar passport-style foldable on the Android side, the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 nearly matches the upcoming iPhone Fold Ultra in most aspects.

Phone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max Specifications: Leaks and Speculations
Both iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will be powered by the A20 Pro chipset. It will be Apple's first chip built on TSMC's 2nm process and paired with 12GB of RAM across the Pro lineup. We expect a solid generational jump here, going by what we saw in our A19 Pro vs A18 Pro benchmark comparison.

The biggest change, however, is on the camera front. The 48MP main sensor is tipped to get a variable aperture lens on the iPhone 18 Pro, something no iPhone has ever offered.
On top of that, leaks reveal a 24MP selfie camera, a smaller Dynamic Island with under-display Face ID and Apple's second-gen C2 modem with satellite connectivity.
Next, the iPhone 18 Pro may pack a 4,288mAh battery, but the iPhone 18 Pro Max battery details are a bit murky though.
Tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) initially claimed 5,100 to 5,200mAh battery, but recent regulatory filings suggest up to 5,567mAh. Finally, the iPhone 18 Pro colours have leaked and it comes in Cherry Red, Light Blue and Black.

While the iPhone 18 Pro launch is still two months away, the rumours are all over the place. Some analysts believe Apple will keep the base price same and raise prices for the higher storage variants.
Other are predicting a significant price hike, mainly driven by the expensive 2nm chip, extra memory and the ongoing RAM crisis that has already increased phone prices across the industry.
Just so you know, Apple has already increased iPhone prices in Japan, so Indian buyers should brace up ahead of the iPhone 18 Pro launch in September.
Remember that the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e may arrive in 2027, which means the Pro models are your only new options this year. Apple will reveal the official prices at the September 9 keynote and we will update this guide the moment it does.
