Two weeks after the first beta, Google has rolled out the second beta for Android 17 QPR1 with a handful of bug fixes and improvements. This new version focuses heavily on squashing major bugs, making the software run more smoothly on Pixel phones.

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2 Is Rolling Out

The Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2 update carries the build number CP31.260423.012.A1 with a download size of around 578 MB. It is rolling out to all Google Pixel phones, from the Pixel 6 to the latest Pixel 10 series. Google has shared a laundry list of fixes the update brings.

Like the Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 update, Beta 2 mostly focuses on bug fixes. Starting with a bug that made cell signal bars look completely grey, even when there was an active connection. It also fixes a peculiar behaviour where an app icon would appear oversized when returning to the home screen.

Google has also fixed an issue with the lock screen so that the date and weather no longer cover the fingerprint scanner. Moreover, swiping between recent apps will work properly again, and the Terminal app will no longer crash or load forever when users try to open it.

The QPR1 Beta 2 update also fixes issues with Bluetooth tethering. Previously, the setting automatically turned off every time a user restarted their phone. The update also fixes a phone call bug for drivers, making sure the car's screen hangs up on the correct person during a conference call.

The Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2 unfortunately does not include the May 2026 security patch, and sticks to Beta 1's April 2026 patch.

As for the availability, the update is available for download on Pixel 6 series and above, Pixel Folds, and the Pixel Tablet. Users enrolled in the Android Beta program can download the update from Settings > System > Software updates > System Update. They can also report bugs directly to Google using the feedback app.

With the Android Show I/O edition 2026 scheduled for next week, Google has squashed some last-minute bugs in Android 17, getting its next major Android update ready for the limelight.
