Google has been hard at work crafting and defining the features of its upcoming Pixel feature drops and Android features. After releasing the Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 update last month, Pixels are now getting what could be the final Beta of the QPR1 cycle. And it brings a slew of bug fixes to improve system stability.
Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 Fixes Bugs and Crashes
Google has detailed all the fixes employed in Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4. The Beta is now rolling out to Pixel 6 and above smartphones with the build number CP31.260522.006. The build weighs around 588 MB on a Pixel 10 and sticks to the May security patch.

Starting with the features, the screen recording tool on Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 now incorporates the Screen Reaction feature that was showcased during Google I/O 2026. This allows users to have a front camera overlay while screen recording and move it around effortlessly.
Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 also brings the Keyboard Quick Setting tile feature that rolled out recently in the Android Canary 2606 release. Besides, there are a few other UI improvements, such as better spacing in the Display & touch section.

Coming to the fixes, the update fixes an issue where the mouse pointer became invisible on external displays when work profile apps are active. Besides, the update also takes care of a notorious system crash when launching credential provider settings from Private Space.
Another issue where screenshot sounds were coupled to the ringer volume, preventing silent captures while maintaining call alerts, has also been fixed. A camera-related issue where the phones would jump frames and exhibit jitter when recording at 5x zoom has also been addressed.
Issues with the Back Tap gesture failing to register on the lock screen have also been fixed. And lastly, for all the gaming aficionados here, Google has also fixed a graphics driver regression that caused performance drops in OpenGL ES apps.
The Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 is not a huge update, but it essentially irons everything out before Google pushes the first major Android 17 Quarterly Platform Release. Now, there could be a few more hotfix updates after this, but the main update is on track to release next month, as Android 17 stable drops later this month.
