Just a few weeks after pushing the eighth QPR1 beta, Google is rolling out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 9 to supported Pixel smartphones with build number CP31.260623.012. This late-stage build is entirely dedicated to squashing bugs rather than introducing new features, and it readies Pixels for the September 2026 feature drop.
Android 17 QPR1 Beta 9 Fixes a Host of Bugs
Google's official changelog highlights several performance and stability improvements. The first major fix is with regard to bootlooping, where phones were stuck in a reboot cycle every 20 to 30 seconds. The update also addresses a bug that was causing intermittent battery drain.

In addition, the update also fixes audio spikes, eliminating an unexpectedly triggered loud noise during notification interactions or media playback. The update also resolves a bug where swiping the bottom gesture bar to switch apps would fail after using Circle to Search.
The system gesture handling has been updated to properly reset navigation focus. That said, an issue on foldable screens where taskbar icons would unexpectedly vanish when entering bubble mode or launching applications has also been fixed.
Android 17 QPR1 Beta 9 is now available on Pixel 6 and above smartphones. Google has also been hard at work pushing Canary releases and Android 17 QPR2 Betas, which have many confused about the current state of Betas.

To help curb the confusion, the Android 17 QPR1 Beta cycle prepares supported Pixel smartphones for the upcoming September 2026 Pixel Feature Drop.
On the other hand, the Android 17 QPR2 Beta cycle is preparing Pixels for the December 2026 Pixel Feature Drop. Canary builds and their features are expected to be merged with the latest QPR betas as Google sees fit.
That said, Android 17 QPR1 Beta, followed by the September 2026 Feature Drop, will be some of the last updates for Pixel 6, as it has reached its end-of-life. Besides, with August 2026 almost coming to a close, Android 17 QPR1 Beta 9 is probably the last update before Google rolls out Android 17 QPR1 Stable, followed by the September Feature Drop in early September 2026.
