The foldable iPhone Ultra's launch timeline has been the subject of conflicting reports in recent weeks. While some claimed that Apple's first foldable has been delayed, others suggested that it was still on track. Now, a new industry report indicates that Apple is preparing to begin mass production of the iPhone Ultra next month, hinting that its expected September 2026 launch timeline could be on track.
iPhone Fold Mass Production Could Begin in July
According to a report from TheElec, "Apple supply chain officials" have revealed the iPhone Fold is set to enter mass production by the end of July 2026.
The report adds that the brand has reportedly resolved the earlier engineering issues, which were attributed to the iPhone Fold delay. Foxconn will reportedly handle the initial production run and distribution of the foldable iPhone. The first round of the trial production was reportedly held in April 2026.

This also lines up with a recent report claiming Samsung has started producing iPhone Fold OLED displays and is expected to deliver three million units at an 80% yield rate. The report also suggests that key specifications of the iPhone Ultra have also been finalised ahead of mass production.

Thanks to leaks and reports, the iPhone Fold is expected to bring an iPad-like form factor with a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.49-inch outer panel. Apple also plans to use liquid metal for the iPhone Fold hinge and it could be powered by the Apple A20 Pro chipset. We have already seen real-life iPhone Fold case designs leak out in the wild, further confirming the details.
That said, the iPhone Ultra might just launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max. While its sale could be delayed till the end of 2026, we expect Apple to announce all three phones at its September 2026 event.
More information about the iPhone Fold is most likely to surface in the coming days, so stay tuned.
