The iPhone Fold rumour mill has been working overtime lately, with every new day bringing fresh new details. While recent leaks have made fans sceptical of the 2026 iPhone Fold launch, a fresh new leak has outed the alleged third-party cases, which could hint at a key tradeoff.
iPhone Fold Leaked Cases Hint at Lack of Native MagSafe Support
Reliable leaker MajinBu has shared an early look at the leaked third-party cases for the upcoming iPhone Fold. They offer an orange and black colour variants and an interesting take on MagSafe support for Apple's first folding phone.

As it is evident from the above image, both cases come with MagSafe rings at the back. However, if we take a closer look at the orange coloured case, the MagSafe ring comes with what appears to be a magnetic circular kick-stand pre-attached. This could hint at the fact that the iPhone Fold will miss out on MagSafe rings natively.
So far, every iPhone Fold leaked render that has appeared online has shown off a flat surface with no evidence of MagSafe rings inside. Even the recent iPhone Fold leaked dummy unit, when placed side-by-side with the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max, clearly revealed the lack of MagSafe.

Hence, it is clearly possible that the iPhone Fold will only unlock MagSafe charging and accessories support via third-party cases. This is something the recent Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra also does with its slew of cases brining Qi2 charging support to the phone.
While the exact reason for this omission is unclear, given that the iPhone Fold is expected to cost upwards of $3,000 (approximately Rs 2,77,000), it could be due to its thin form factor. It is rumoured to be 4.5 to 4.8 mm thin when unfolded and somewhere between 9 and 9.5mm when closed. This will make it Apple's thinnest iPhone yet, even making it a hair thicker than the latest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which measures at 8.9 mm when closed.
That said, this is just a speculation at the time of writing and should be taken with a pinch of salt. There is a possibility that the iPhone Fold does integrate MagSafe magnets but the leaked dummy units simply lack the branding. However, the third-party integration process seems more likely given the phone's wide aspect ratio and thin design. That said, with the iPhone Fold scheduled to go official in September 2026, we still have a few more months left for concrete evidences to emerge. So, stay tuned.
