Apple's ultra-thin iPhone Air 2 has been stuck in a strange limbo lately. While some reports have claimed the phone was quietly scrapped, others suggested Apple pushed it to a much later 2027 debut. Now, a fresh leak rejects both narratives and points to a sooner-than-expected timeline.
iPhone Air 2 could launch in 2026
Known tipster Fixed Focus Digital claims via Weibo that iPhone Air 2 delay reports are entirely false. The post has mentioned that current production line feedback indicates that Apple will launch the phone in 2026 itself.

However, it might not bring a drastic upgrade over the iPhone Air. It is expected to bring very minor changes, making it a "routine upgrade". If true, this will make earlier reports about the iPhone Air following a non-yearly cycle to bring major upgrades redundant.
As for where exactly these new upgrades will reflect, we believe it's in the camera and display departments. Previous leaks have heavily emphasised iPhone Air 2 camera upgrades. The smartphone is said to gain a 12 MP ultra-wide angle camera, aside from the 48 MP main camera.

Moreover, the Air 2 is also said to bring a bigger display and battery. It is expected to adopt Samsung Display's advanced Colour Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) OLED technology. This will not only help the iPhone Air 2 achieve paper-like thinness, but will also overhaul how colour filters are placed within the display stack.
It could be a major talking point about the iPhone Air 2. Also, if Apple manages to make the A20 Pro a 2nm SoC, that will also add cherry to the top. That said, these are just speculations at the time of writing, so take them with a pinch of salt. We are still months away from an official Apple event.
