Just back in September 2025, Apple launched its slimmest iPhone ever with the iPhone Air. Now, talks of its next iteration, the iPhone Air 2, are already doing the rounds in the rumour mill. The latest one hints at when the smartphone can launch and it looks like it's going to be a long wait.
Apple iPhone Air 2 launch tipped for Spring 2027
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the second-generation iPhone Air, which many believed could launch alongside the iPhone 18 series, is now expected to arrive by spring 2027. Apple is apparently rethinking its thin phone strategy and has reportedly delayed the iPhone Air 2 launch by six months.

Earlier last week, when news of Apple iPhone Air 2 production being paused surfaced, it was believed the next ultra-thin smartphone dream was hanging in the balance. Now, it seems like Apple is taking its own sweet time to iron out the creases the original iPhone Air was fraught with.
The latest report further claims that this delay in the launch timeline was exactly the reason why Apple decided not to associate the original Air with the iPhone 17 series. The Air was never meant to follow a yearly update cycle and is instead meant to advance with each new iteration.

It seems like Apple is primarily focusing on using a 2nm chipset with the Air 2. The iPhone Air 2 camera upgrades were also reported recently and it seems like Apple could use dual rear cameras. However, design-wise, it doesn't appear much will change. Apart from a second lens at the camera bar and a thinner profile, the new report claims that the 2nd-gen Air will not bring a major design overhaul.
Moreover, the Air 2 is also said to bring a bigger display and battery. So, the extra time that Apple is taking with the iPhone Air 2 could be worth waiting for.
