The iPhone Fold rumour mill is working overtime at this point and just when it seemed like things were finally falling into place, there's a new twist. While recent leaks suggested Apple was on track for a 2026 iPhone Fold launch, the latest report hints that actually getting your hands on one might be a whole different story.
iPhone Fold Production Targets Could Be Missed at Launch
Tech publication DigiTimes Asia has reportedly gained exclusive insight from industry insiders regarding the launch and sale details of the iPhone Fold. According to them, the iPhone Fold is on schedule to launch in September 2026. However, everyone waiting might have to wait even longer to get their hands on Apple's first foldable iPhone.

As per the report, Apple has missed its July 2026 mass production deadline and it has now been shifted to August 2026. This has made it almost impossible for the Cupertino brand to hit its 7 million to 8 million unit sales target for the first batch.
While there is no word on the new iPhone Fold production target, it is considerably lower than the initial estimates. The reason for this setback has been attributed to early engineering complications previously reported to cause an iPhone Fold launch delay. Unable to resolve them on time, Apple had no choice but to limit production rather than delay the launch altogether.
Coupled with the fact that the iPhone Fold could debut for as much as $3,000 (approximately Rs 2,77,000), fans will have to wait longer and pay even more to get their hands on the foldable iPhone (or iPhone Fold Ultra).
That said, there is no doubt that Apple is prepping for a breakthrough with the iPhone Fold. However, with limited supply and steep acquisition cost, the iPhone Fold Ultra could end up being the least sold iPhone in Apple's history.
