Apple is gearing up for a major AI overhaul, with reports suggesting it will open up Siri to rival AI assistants as part of the upcoming iOS 27 update. As per a new Bloomberg report, the Cupertino giant is working on enabling third-party AI services to integrate directly with Siri, allowing users to tap into multiple AI models instead of relying on a single default assistant.
Apple's Siri Could Become a Multi-AI Hub with iOS 27
If true, this would end Apple's exclusivity with OpenAI's ChatGPT, which is presently used to handle more complex queries through Siri. However, users will certainly get more freedom out of it, as they will be able to choose between Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude, depending on the task at hand.

We also wonder how that will work for Google, as a Gemini-powered Siri is on the way. Anyway, instead of working as a standalone assistant, Siri could finally evolve into an intelligent AI assistant.
This new shift is also expected to open up new monetisation opportunities. Apple could reportedly take a share of subscription revenues from third-party AI providers that integrate with Siri, creating an App Store-like business model for AI services within its ecosystem.
These changes are likely to debut alongside a significantly upgraded Siri experience in iOS 27 during the upcoming WWDC 2026 event. With deeper system-wide integration and improved contextual understanding, the new Siri will undoubtedly be the talk of the town when it lands.
