Google is preparing to fix a major omission in its Calling Cards feature on Android. For those unaware, the feature, which was introduced last year, allowed users to customise how incoming calls from friends appeared on their phone. However, the new feature will soon allow users to create their own calling cards for others to see.
My Calling Card feature is coming soon
According to a new report from Android Authority, Google could soon add the ability to let users create their own calling card and choose how it appears on others' screens. The feature was spotted in the Phone by Google app (v204.0.852029473), and contains a fully functional "My Calling Card" option.

This feature brings Android's capabilities in line with Apple's Contacts Posters on iOS, allowing users to have their own identity for outbound calls. As for how it works, once the feature rolls out, users can set up their own calling card similar to setting up calling cards on Android. will be able to navigate to Settings > Calling Cards and tap Create to select the associated Google account.
Then they will be able to choose a photo from the gallery, customise fonts and colours to style the card and set privacy controls to set who can view their calling card. This could be set to Contacts Only or Everyone.

In the changelog, Google notes that recipients will be able to see your name, photo and specific Google account details. However, in case a contact has already manually customised a Calling Card on their phone, their custom version will be prioritised over the self-created card.
Android Authority notes that the feature appears to be fully functional in the latest public beta. A widespread rollout is expected soon. This update essentially completes the Calling Card feature.
With Google also focusing on ecosystem features with the upcoming support for AirDrop on Pixel 9 (news link), it will be interesting to see if it could figure out iOS' Contact Cards playing well with Android's Calling Cards and vice versa in the future.
