Telecom operator Reliance Jio has reintroduced its popular Jio Prime membership plan in India to commemorate 10 years of operations. The new plan offers a price lock guarantee for up to a year for both Jio prepaid and postpaid customers.
Jio Prime Membership Benefits and Features
The primary USP of Jio Prime is its price lock guarantee for up to a year. This means that those who subscribe to Jio Prime will be able to continue recharging with their preferred eligible Jio recharge plans at current prices until September 5, 2027.
For example, let's say that I want to recharge my prepaid Jio number with the Rs 899 plan, which offers 2 GB of data per day, unlimited 5G and 90 days' validity. If I purchase the Jio Prime subscription for Rs 300, I will be eligible to continue recharging my phone at Rs 899, even if the plan's price increases, let's say, to Rs 999.

Moreover, Jio Prime members will be eligible for cashbacks worth up to Rs 600. This will be split into two parts, with the first one being a Rs 300 voucher, redeemable on a new Jio Home or Jio PC connection.
The other part of this offer is a Rs 300 voucher for adding a new Jio SIM connection for a friend or family member. Sadly, these discount vouchers do not apply to existing connections.
Aside from that, Jio Prime members will get early access to new Jio products, services and trials. Users will also enjoy priority customer service via a dedicated service channel. Jio has confirmed that other benefits and features will be added and announced over the course of the membership period.
That said, Jio Prime is open to existing Jio prepaid and postpaid users. Both Android and iOS users can either head over to the MyJio app or the Jio website to subscribe to Jio Prime. Customers on other networks can join too, either by porting to Jio or taking a new Jio connection.

Is Jio Prime Worth It at Rs 300?
The introduction of the Jio Prime membership has indirectly confirmed one thing: tariff prices are going to increase soon. With an active subscriber base of over 500 million, Jio Prime is offering users a chance to lock in their favourite plan prices for an entire year, so they don't feel the shockwaves of the price hike.
We have already seen tariff hikes in effect. Recently, Airtel discontinued six recharge plans and hiked the price of one. A Centrum Institutional Research report (via Economic Times) has claimed that mobile recharge plans are going to jump by 12% to 15% in the coming months.
Hence, according to me, Jio Prime is Reliance's way of letting us know about the future situation beforehand and offering a safety net for its subscriber base. Personally, I would prefer to subscribe for Rs 300, rather than worry about my favourite plan getting more expensive.
