As previous leaks and rumours about the upcoming Gemini app overhaul pointed out, Google is finally giving Gemini a much-needed visual refresh. The app is now getting a new gradient colour scheme with brand new animations and a top-to-bottom UI revamp, including the Gemini overlay.
Google Gemini Gets Its Most-Awaited Glowup
After announcing new Gemini Intelligence features last week, Google is pushing a server-side update gradually to the Google Gemini app on Android smartphones. The update completely overhauls everything from the home page to the hamburger menu and positions of different elements across the user interface. It has rolled out on our Pixel 10 unit.

The menus have also been revamped, including the "+" menu that houses the ability to upload media to Gemini. As previous Gemini app revamp leaks suggested, the changes also carry over to the Gemini Live button. Gemini Live now seamlessly integrates into the bottom bar, instead of taking users to a separate page.
When invoked, the new Gemini overlay now appears a bit compact, like a pill, and a little stretched from the top and bottom. It also incorporates the same compact Gemini Live UI, but in overlay form with circular icons for features and a middle pill that shows the voice histogram.

The thinking animation after entering a command has also changed, as it now appears as three waving dots instead of a circular loading element outside the Gemini icon. Similarly, the "Answer now" button can be found just above the bottom bar, instead of being near the thinking animation.
Lastly, the model picker menu has been shifted from the bottom bar to the dropdown in the top left, right beside the hamburger menu icon. We also noticed the new Gemini 3.1 Fash-Lite is rolling out, alongside the Google Gemini Thinking Levels option, which Google recently rolled out.
All in all, this new Gemini update marks a significant change in the user interface since Gemini's inception. It's clean, concise, and the elements are much more streamlined and accessible. More information about this new UI should be revealed at Google I/O 2026, which is scheduled for later today.
