Samsung is reportedly planning a new feature that could improve the audio capabilities of Galaxy smartphones. The upcoming One UI 8.5 update is expected to debut a new software feature, giving users advanced tools that could transform compatible Galaxy phones into professional recording rigs.
One UI 8.5 to bring 24-bit recording
As per the information shared on X by Galaxy Techie, Samsung could add 24-bit recording over Bluetooth to One UI 8.5. The upcoming software version expected to debut in Galaxy Unpacked 2026 will introduce a tool called Advanced Audio.

The feature could allow users to record in greater dynamic range and more sound depth, catering to vloggers and smartphone filmmakers. The tool will reportedly bring support for dual-mic sync recording, noise reduction, gain adjustment and more.
Besides, it could also support DJI Mic 2, Mic 3, Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 when connected via Bluetooth, eliminating the need for a separate receiver during shoots. The dual microphone input could allow users to capture audio from two separate sources simultaneously.
Controls for these settings may be accessible via a live update pill near the camera cutout or within Samsung's Now Bar, streamlining real-time adjustments. All the settings for this are packed within the Advanced Audio APK that Galaxy Techie first spotted.

It is possible that Advanced Audio could be tied to better microphone hardware, which the Galaxy S26 series might come with. However, we're assuming and hoping that's really not the case.
Besides Advanced Audio Controls, One UI 8.5 is also expected to bring features like a more customisable Quick Settings panel, more privacy features, partial screen recording and Lock Screen customisations. The software will first launch with the Galaxy S26 series and slowly expand to the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
