There's no denying that the smartphone market is going through a difficult phase due to the ongoing RAM crisis. The prices of most phones have shot up significantly over the past few months. However, in what feels like a move from a parallel universe, the Realme 16T has seen a price cut in India today.
Realme 16T Price Cut Arrives with Bank Offers
First spotted by TelecomTalk, we can confirm that Realme has slashed the prices of the Realme 16T 5G by Rs 2,000 across all storage variants.
Thanks to this, the base 6 GB + 128 GB variant now costs Rs 27,999. On top of this, buyers can avail an additional Rs 2,000 off on select credit cards, bringing the price further down to Rs 25,999.
Similarly, the 8 GB + 128 GB and 8 GB + 256 GB storage variants now cost Rs 27,999 and Rs 30,999 with bank discounts. Buyers can also choose a 10-month no-cost EMI, and the offer ends on July 12, 2026.
Right now, the discount appears to be exclusive to the Realme India website. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of the before-and-after pricing of the Realme 16T.
| Storage variant | Old Price | New Price (Until June 12, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Realme 16T (6 GB + 128 GB) | Rs 29,999 | Rs 25,999 |
| Realme 16T (8 GB + 128 GB) | Rs 31,999 | Rs 27,999 |
| Realme 16T (8 GB + 256 GB) | Rs 34,999 | Rs 30,999 |
This development is particularly interesting given that brands across the world are increasing phone prices to secure their profit margins. In fact, Realme itself recently hiked prices of the Realme 16 series in India. In this case, it could point towards lesser-than-expected sales of the Realme 16T and the brand leveraging its market status to sell more units.
For those unaware, the Realme 16T comes with a 6.8-inch HD+ AMOLED 144Hz panel with a Dimensity 6300 processor. It is paired with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The phone features a 50 MP main camera along with a 2 MP monochrome unit, alongside a 16 MP front camera for selfies.
Fueling the internals is a massive 8,000mAh battery with support for 45W charging. It's all packaged together with Realme UI 7 based on Android 16 out of the box. The brand promises 3 years of major Android updates and 4 years of security patches.
With Vivo increasing prices of the X300 FE and other phones recently and Apple finally giving in to the pressure of the RAM shortage as well, the market is expected to get worse with no relief in sight for the foreseeable future. Although there is a faint light at the end of the tunnel with a recent US lawsuit against Samsung, Micron and SK Hynix, nothing can be said with certainty.
