When it comes to software support, Realme has been one of those brands that had failed to deliver a longer support promise. For the most part, smartphones were only eligible for up to two years of software upgrades. However, that is changing now with the brand officially revising its update policy for select devices.
Realme Global's Head of Product Marketing, Francis Wong broke the news via X. According to his post, the Realme number series, number Pro series and the number T lineup are now eligible for three years of software upgrades and four years of security updates.
#NewsAlert realme 14 Pro+, 14 Pro, 14T, and 15 Pro, 15, all upgrade to the 3+4 policy. And it's a commitment for all our future Number Pro, Number, and Number T product lines. My announcement for P series is coming soon, too many news and tech surprises for #NewPSeries pic.twitter.com/zzFo5HEX8C
— Francis Wong (王硕) (@FrancisRealme) August 8, 2025
It is important to note that these new update policy changes only apply to the following devices that launched in India and globally in 2025:
- Realme 14 series – Realme 14 Pro, Realme 14 Pro+, Realme 14T and Realme 14x
- Realme 15 series – Realme 15, Realme 15 Pro
Apart from the above-mentioned devices, all the upcoming Realme number series smartphones like the 16, 16 Pro and so on will also bear the 3 + 4 years software support promise.
This new move will bring the number series on par with the Realme GT lineup devices like the Realme GT 7 series.

Also, another interesting thing about Wong's post is the official name-drop for the Realme P4 series. Although Realme teased the P4 series on August 7, 2025, it didn't explicitly mention the "P4" naming. Now, since the official confirmation has arrived from a brand official himself, we can be 100% certain about the same.
This confirms that the Realme smartphone that was spotted on Geekbench with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor was indeed the P4 Pro.
With that said, we will know more details about the smartphones in the next few days with more official teasers rolling in. In the meantime, let's appreciate this current software policy move from Realme and hope that they deliver the same with consistent updates.
