Right after its release in select global markets, Xiaomi announced the Redmi Pad 2 launch date for India. The company took to the official Redmi X (formerly Twitter) handle to reveal that Redmi Pad 2 will land in the subcontinent on June 18, 2025.
Its predecessor, the Redmi Pad, arrived three years ago. So, understandably, we are looking at quite a few upgrades here.

Thanks to the global launch, we already know what to expect from the upcoming Redmi Pad 2 in terms of specifications.
Redmi Pad 2 Specifications
For starters, there's a clear difference in the camera module shape in the successor. The Redmi Pad 2 features a more rounded camera island.
Moving on, the Redmi Pad 2 features a bigger 11-inch LCD panel over the original's 10.61-inch screen. Now, although the 90Hz refresh rate remains the same, the resolution goes up from 2K to 2.5K (2560 x 1600 pixels). The panel is also brighter now, capable of going up to 600 nits compared to 400 nits on its predecessor.
The Redmi Pad 2 retains the quad speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos. Most importantly, Redmi has thrown in a 3.5mm headphone jack this time around. So, you won't have to go through the annoyance of getting a Type-C to 3.5mm converter.
The Redmi Pad 2 also offers slightly more raw performance with the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra chipset. This SoC is likely a custom version of the standard Helio G100 but with 4G support, not 5G.
There's also more memory and storage onboard than the last time, with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There's also a more affordable 6 GB + 128 GB configuration available to choose from.
The software side of things has also gotten a massive upgrade. While the first Pad shipped with Android 12-based MIUI 13, the Redmi Pad 2 comes with Android 15-based HyperOS 2.0. So, expect to see some snappier animations and useful new tablet features. Besides, Redmi Pad 2 is compatible with the Xiaomi Smart Pen for enhanced productivity.

While you won't find yourself taking pictures with a tablet, the Redmi Pad 2 retains the 8 MP camera from the original in case you forget your phone at home. Surprisingly enough, though, the front shooter is now downgraded from 8 MP to 5 MP.
Finally, there's a bigger 9,000mAh battery on the Redmi Pad 2. That's 1,000mAh more than the original. Charging speeds remain the same at 18W. However, going by its track record, Xiaomi might bundle in a 22.5W charger in the box.
As for pricing, in the Philippines, the Redmi Pad 2 starts at PHP 10,499 (approx. Rs 16,200). Meanwhile, the top-end variant is priced at PHP 12,999 (approx. Rs 19,300). So, from the looks of it, the tablet will be priced under Rs 20,000 in India.
Also, going by the tweet, the Redmi Pad 2 might come in Gray and Light Blue colour options in India, and skip the silver.
For now, this is all we know about the Redmi Pad 2. The sub-Rs 20,000 tablet market in India is far from saturation, as there are good options in this price bracket. From the OnePlus Pad Go to the Realme Pad 2, the Redmi Pad 2 will face some solid competition.
