Reliance Industries has announced the formation of Reliance Intelligence, a wholly owned AI subsidiary. This AI wing will be responsible for spearheading the company's AI initiatives in India.
The announcement was made by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukhesh Ambani at the company's 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 29, 2025.

Ambani said that the new subsidiary will focus on four core missions that are designed to accelerate AI adoption in the country. These include building gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centres powered by clean energy, developing enterprise-grade AI platforms, expanding the use of robotics and automation and creating a global hub for AI talent.
Reliance Intelligence will build gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centres, powered by green energy and engineered for training and inference at national scale. Work has already begun on the gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar. These facilities will be delivered in phases aligned to India's growing needs, powered by Reliance's new-energy ecosystem, and custom-made for AI training and inference.

Just as Jio democratised digital access, Reliance Intelligence is planning on democratising AI for every Indian. To support its ambitions, Reliance has expanded its partnerships with Google and Meta.
With Google, the company will establish a dedicated Jamnagar Cloud Region, combining Reliance's infrastructure and renewable energy with Google Cloud's computing capabilities.
Reliance’s partnership with Meta will focus on creating AI platforms for Indian businesses and the government. These will use Meta’s open-source Llama models.
Reliance Intelligence will deliver trusted, easy-to-use AI services for consumers, small businesses, and enterprises, and solutions for sectors of national importance such as Education, Healthcare, and Agriculture. The services will be reliable at scale and affordable for every Indian.

The Reliance Intelligence subsidiary will operate with a long-term roadmap, aiming to make India a significant player in the global AI ecosystem. Meanwhile, it will also work towards strengthening Reliance's own technology backbone across telecom, retail, energy and manufacturing.
Reliance Intelligence could potentially play the same disruptive role in AI that Jio did in telecom nearly a decade ago. This could finally position India in a spot where it can compete with global leaders in artificial intelligence.
