Samsung has been hard at work pushing One UI 8.5 Betas to its older flagships. The beta programme has progressed a great deal on the Galaxy S25 series and has also trickled down to the Galaxy S23 series of smartphones. Expanding on that, the Galaxy S23 series is now getting the second One UI 8.5 beta update, bringing a bunch of fixes and refinements.
One UI 8.5 Beta 2 Update Is Here for Galaxy S23
Spotted first by tipster Tarun Vats on X, the highly anticipated One UI 8.5 Beta 2 update is officially rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S23+ users in India. While this seems to be a major update, weighing around 782 MB, it mostly focuses on squashing system-level bugs and improving the overall system stability.

Most notably, the update focuses on a frustrating bug which caused the display to wake up late or remain completely black during an incoming call in certain states. Additionally, the update also resolves an erratic proximity sensor behaviour error that occurred during active phone calls.
Besides, Samsung has fixed an issue where Bluetooth was randomly crashing, alongside the graphical glitch causing green lines to appear on the screen when recording 4K HDR videos using third-party camera apps.

Finally, the update also resolves a multi-touch malfunction that would trigger when users increased specific accessibility settings. For users enrolled in the beta programme in India, the update carries the firmware build number S918BXXU9ZZDP for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, S918BOXM9ZZDP for the vanilla Galaxy S23 and S918BXXU9FZDP for the Galaxy S23+.
In addition to the fixes, the One UI 8.5 Beta 2 for the Galaxy S23 series also bumps the phone's security framework up to the most recent April 5, 2026, security patch level.
That said, Samsung has yet to announce the official One UI 8.5 stable release date for its older phones. Considering that the Beta testing is in full swing, it should happen by the end of May 2026. Until then, stay tuned.
