Samsung has officially confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S26 series will debut a new display technology that will block prying eyes. The brand describes it as privacy at a pixel level, as the feature intends to solve the age-old problem of strangers peeking into smartphones.

Galaxy S26 Privacy Display Officially Teased

Samsung posted on its official Newsroom with the title "A new layer of privacy", in which the brand mentioned the arrival of a hardware-based privacy feature. The post also consists of three videos illustrating how it works.

Unlike software-based privacy filters that only dim the screen, Samsung's implementation appears to be built directly into the hardware. The tech allows the screen to remain clear when viewed head-on, but makes it harder to read when viewed from the side.

This comes right after the Galaxy S26 Ultra Privacy Display feature leaked in detail earlier today. The feature seemingly relies on a specialised panel architecture, meaning it won't be coming to older Samsung Galaxy smartphones with software updates.

Besides, the post also suggests that it will be highly customisable. Rather than a simple on/off toggle, users can configure it to activate automatically for specific apps or when entering sensitive information like passwords. The intensity, too, can be adjusted to control the visibility angles.

The feature can even be applied to specific UI elements, such as hiding notification pop-ups while keeping the rest of the screen visible and is expected to tie into Samsung's Knox security site.

Also, while the post confirms it's for the Galaxy S26 series, it's unclear as to whether the feature will be standard across the Galaxy S26 series or exclusive to Galaxy S26 Ultra. As the Galaxy S26 launch date closes in, we should hear more about the feature in detail. Until then, stay tuned.
