With Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked expected to be held on July 22, 2026, the brand has started confirming key details about its next generation of foldables. The latest reveal puts an end to speculation around the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 chipset, confirming that it will indeed use Qualcomm's top-tier SoC.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Confirmed to Feature Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy
The South Korean brand took to its official Instagram handle to tease that the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. While the brand hasn't explicitly mentioned the name of the phone, from the wide silhouette teased in the teaser video, it basically confirms it to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
This is good news since previous leaks hinted at the brand using the Exynos 2600 processor for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the top-tier Qualcomm processor was supposedly reserved for the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

For those unaware, a recent Galaxy Z Fold 8 series case leak confirmed that Samsung is changing the naming conventions of its upcoming foldables. The taller foldable will be renamed as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the direct successor of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Meanwhile, the phone with the wide form factor is most likely the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. So, there may not be a separate Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, as previously rumoured.
Now, while the brand hasn't revealed any of the other key specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, leaks and reports have already spilled a lot.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Specifications (Leaked)
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to bring a 7.6-inch folding display and feature a 5.4-inch cover screen, similar to what's expected on the Apple iPhone Fold.
The phone could also feature dual rear cameras with a 200 MP main sensor and a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Moreover, we could also see the Galaxy Z Fold 8 battery capacity, getting a long-overdue upgrade to 5,000mAh.
That said, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and Galaxy Z Flip 8 launch date likely right around the corner, expect the brand to tease more details in the coming days. So, stay tuned.
