After a sea of leaks, rumours, teasers and updates, the day is finally here. The debut triple-folding smartphone from Samsung, the Galaxy Z TriFold, is finally official. It has been announced in South Korea and is packed to the brim with some noteworthy features. Here is a quick rundown of the specifications, pricing and availability details of the latest tri-fold.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Specifications and Features
Kicking things off with the design, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is defined by its displays and the hinge mechanism. It brings an inward folding display mechanism which separates the entire smartphone into three halves.
It comprises a single 6.5-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X LTPO display with 120 Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nits of peak brightness. The outer display sits right in the middle with two hinges on the side facilitating the tri-fold mechanism.
When open, the smartphone reveals a massive 10-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,600 nits of peak brightness. This makes the Galaxy Z TriFold transform from a regular slab phone into a tablet-like form factor in a matter of seconds.

Another key area where this inward-folding mechanism comes into play is durability. Unlike the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, where the main folding display is exposed on the outside, Samsung has fixed that with the Galaxy Z TriFold, by ensuring both folding parts fold inward, keeping the folding display safe when only the outer display is in use.
Moreover, the hinges on the Galaxy Z TriFold are made out of Titanium, while the chassis uses Armor Aluminium. Even the front glass is protected with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection. The device is also IP48 rated for dust and water resistance.

Speaking of performance, under the hood, the triple-folding phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. It is paired with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The onboard storage has not been revealed by Samsung at the time of writing.
Software-wise, the Galaxy Z TriFold ships with all the new OneUI 8 features. Here as well, Samsung is promising seven years of software and security updates for the smartphone.

Now, talking about the cameras, the rear end gets a triple lens setup with a 200 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 10 MP 3x periscope telephoto sensor. For selfies, the outer display features a 10 MP front shooter. The same 10 MP selfie camera is also housed inside the inner folding display.
Battery-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold gains a 5,600mAh capacity, split into three halves. This makes this the biggest battery Samsung smartphone to date. It features 45W fast USB-C charging and 15W wireless charging.

Aside from these specs, the Galaxy Z TriFold is also equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, dual 5G SIM support, Ultra Wide Band (UWB) for satellite connectivity and more.
Lastly, coming to the pricing, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is priced at 3,594,000 won (approximately Rs 2,20,000) in South Korea. The tri-fold will go on sale in the region starting December 12, 2025.
A limited batch of the Galaxy Z TriFold will be made available initially. It will also remain exclusive to South Korea for some time before heading to other regions like China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the USA. There is no word on its India availability yet.
