Samsung isn't quite done with its foldable Galaxy Z lineup and in fact, is now reportedly looking to add a brand-new foldable device in 2026. This will expand the lineup beyond the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip next year.
According to a report from South Korean publication ET News, the upcoming Samsung foldable could be called the Galaxy Z "Wide Fold". Unlike the tall, book-style design of the current Galaxy Z Fold, the Wide Fold is expected to feature a broader display that leans closer to a tablet-like form factor.

To paint a more vivid picture, one may think of it as Samsung's rendition of something like the Huawei Pura X, which was a hybrid between a book-style and clamshell foldable. Samsung coming up with something like that could make it a strong choice for users who want more screen estate for productivity, multitasking and immersive entertainment.
While the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold is already in the pipeline and could launch as early as October 2025, it would understandably not be everyone's cup of tea. So, for those who just want to add a little bit more wideness to the regular book-style foldable format, the Galaxy Z Wide Fold could be it.
This move could be Samsung trying to fend off growing competition from Chinese foldable makers like Huawei and Honor that are pushing aggressively into the category. The Wide Fold could give Samsung a fresh edge in the segment.
However, the specifications, pricing and launch details all remain a mystery at the moment. But, the Galaxy Z Wide Fold is tipped to arrive sometime in 2026, likely alongside the refreshed Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8.
