Samsung scores big amidst RAM crisis and AI surge
The official Samsung Newsroom has reported a staggering 93.8 trillion South Korean won (approximately Rs 5.98 lakh crore) quarterly revenue and an all-time high net profit of 20.1 South Korean won (approximately Rs 1.28 trillion). This unprecedented growth had been primarily driven by Samsung's Memory business and the Mobile Division.

Samsung's Device Solutions Division (DS) posted a 33% quarter-on-quarter increase in sales, thanks to DDR5 memory sales. Back in November 2025, Samsung hiked memory prices by up to 80% to meet the AI Data Centre's demand and the rising memory shortage crisis.
The Galaxy phones maker hiked 32 GB DDR5 server modules from around $149 (approximately Rs 13,500) to $239 (approximately Rs 21,500). Other capacities like 16 GB and 128 GB modules also saw a rise of about 50%, while 64 GB and 96 GB chips increased by over 30%.

This has helped Samsung post a Memory Division quarterly revenue of 44.0 trillion South Korean won (approximately Rs 2.9 trillion), with an operating profit of 16.4 trillion South Korean won (approximately Rs 1.04 trillion). Samsung has emerged as one of the leading global suppliers of DDR5, SOCAMM2 and GDDR7 components.
Moving on, another high-revenue avenue of Samsung's Q4 20256 earnings was the Mobile Experience Division (MX). While the Galaxy S26 series didn't manage to meet the expected sales, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 demand outpaced supply. It pulled 60% of the pre-order value at launch, with shipments exceeding 2.4 million units.

However, the brand pulled the biggest trump card in the form of the Galaxy Z TriFold. Even when the initial sales units were limited, it sold out in minutes in South Korea. Even with a $2,899 (approximately Rs 2,65,500) price tag in the USA, the phone went out of stock in the blink of an eye.
All in all, Samsung's memory and mobile divisions managed to pull off a solid Q4 quarter in 2025. With the Galaxy S26 series launch scheduled for February 2026, it remains to be seen how well the Q1 2026 goes for the brand.
That said, the Visual Display (VD) and Digital Appliances (DA) Businesses also contributed to the overall quarter profit. However, they cumulatively generated only 16% of the total net profit.
