Samsung is all set to unveil the Galaxy S26 series next week. Ahead of that, the brand has posted a bunch of YouTube short videos highlighting the new Galaxy AI capabilities the phones will bring. All of them are heavily focused on image manipulation and are primarily targeted towards mobile content creators.
Galaxy S26 series will get generative image manipulation capabilities
A primary focus of these new Galaxy AI features will be on natural language processing for photo editing. This is said to help users perform complex post-shot edits via text and voice prompts. Samsung says that it will offer Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra users an end-to-end photography and editing experience without leaving their smartphone.

One of the new Galaxy AI tools will be Generative Restoration. It is designed to restore missing elements from an image in post-editing, which will help users make use of Galaxy AI to fill in the missing details from their images.
The brand uses the example of a half-eaten cupcake and how, using Generative Restoration, the Galaxy S26 series phones have stitched together the missing part to create a complete look. It uses natural image processing and situational awareness to understand what's missing and how to fill in the blanks.

Similarly, the upcoming phones will be able to use Environmental Alteration to seamlessly manipulate the image environment or add and subtract elements from it. As it is evident from the above image, using the upcoming feature, Samsung has drawn a rough UFO diagram, which the on-device AI has successfully turned photo-realistic.
Likewise, users will also be able to change the overall scenery of the image, like lighting, shadows, sky elements, convert daytime shots to nightime and more. This is aimed at giving users the complete creative freedom to customise each and every detail inside a photograph to achieve the desired final result.

Lastly, Samsung has also teased a new Image Merging feature, where users can merge multiple images and elements to create a single cohesive result. It will also allow alter the entire nature of the photo, like turning them cartoonish, 2D and more.
All in all, it is pretty clear that just like the previous years, the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event will also be full of Galaxy AI gizmos. Samsung's intent behind this is to make image manipulation seamless and AI accessible to more people. It is unclear if these features will be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series or not. However, we will know soon since the flagship lineup is going official next week, that is, February 25, 2026.
