  • The headset offers dual 8K Micro-OLED panels and interaction through eye and hand tracking.
  • It will not go on sale immediately but will be demoed throughout flagship stores in China starting August 22, 2025.

Vivo has officially unveiled its Vision Explorer Edition, the company's first mixed reality (MR) headset. Designed to compete with flagship devices like Apple's Vision Pro, the headset emphasises on lightweight design, comfort, high-resolution displays and intuitive eye and hand tracking.

Vivo Vision Explorer Edition Specifications and Features

Right off the bat, the Vivo Vision Explorer Edition looks like a slimmer version of the Apple Vision Pro. However, the headset weighs just 398 grams, making it one of the lightest MR headsets in its class. It features a slim 40mm body and is built on a magnesium alloy mid-frame for durability while reducing bulk by almost 30% compared to traditional MR designs.

Meanwhile, on the display front, the device offers dual 8K Micro-OLED panels with a resolution of 3850 x 3552 pixels each. The panel also provides a full P3 colour gamut coverage and precision binocular calibration for consistent visuals. Users with vision correction needs can also attach magnetic prescription lenses ranging from 100 to 1000 diopters.

Under the hood, the Vivo Vision Explorer Edition is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor. The chipset is paired with Vivo's Blue Ocean power management system for better thermal efficiency and battery life. Besides, just like the Vision Pro, the Vivo Vision relies on an external battery pack for power.

Interaction is enabled through eye-tracking with 1.5° accuracy and hand tracking with 26 degrees of freedom across a wide field of view. The headset also supports full-colour passthrough with just 13ms latency in an attempt to blend real and virtual environments seamlessly.

On the content side of things, Vivo is building a dedicated XR ecosystem with experiences like Table Drum Master and Little V's Journey. Additionally, there will also be PCVR connectivity, mobile casing and immersive video playback support.
