WhatsApp continues to build new features for its upcoming paid tier called WhatsApp Plus. Following a previous leak that revealed the platform will let you pin up to 20 chats, a new beta update reveals the upcoming changes coming to the tier, which will completely change how users manage their custom chat lists. The feature has shown up after WhatsApp rolled out the Guest Chats feature recently.
WhatsApp is Supercharging Chat Lists
Spotted first by WABetaInfo in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.26.12.8 update, WhatsApp is developing a feature to unify chat settings with specific lists. Currently, custom lists act primarily as organisational folders at the top of the chat interface. They allow users to group conversations and mute them, but offer little to no utility beyond that.

With WhatsApp Plus, these lists will gain a new management system. Subscribers will be able to apply universal configurations to every chat and group within a list. For starters, a user could select a specific chat theme, and it will instantly apply to all conversations in that category.
Besides, this extends to audio profiles too. Users can assign dedicated notification chimes and ringtones to an entire list, which could allow them to instantly recognise who's texting and calling without having to check their smartphones.
By far the biggest thing, however, is something called automatic inheritance. If a user created a Work list with a distinct chime, work-related chats added to that folder will automatically adopt those settings without having to tediously add them to the list.
From the looks of it all, these features will be great for WhatsApp power users who currently can't get enough of the existing rules and features. WhatsApp Plus will prove beneficial for those who use WhatsApp as their primary source of communication.
Plus should act as a great middle ground for, say, freelancers or independent businesses run by a solo person who isn't yet ready for a fully-blown business account, but also finds the existing WhatsApp utilities limiting. The exact rollout date is unknown, but since the feature has already made it to Beta, we can expect it to be released in stable in the coming months.
